Victory Venkatesh started the multi-starrer trend in Tollywood in the new millennium, and continues to take up more such projects. This time he is pairing with Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja in the remake of Tamil film ‘Jilla’, and expectations are very high.

The surprise element is that he is blending well with actors of different generations and making very successful movies, while his contemporaries such as Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna and Balakrishna have not attempted this yet.

First, Venkatesh took a big risk when he agreed to work in ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’, which had Prince Mahesh Babu as the other lead. Publicised as the first multi-starrer in contemporary Telugu films, ‘SVSC’ did not have a hero-oriented plot, nor were there any solo songs or high-voltage action sequences. Both the superstars accepted the project because they liked the script. During an interview, both Venkatesh and Mahesh confessed that they surrendered themselves to director Srikanth Addala, who wrote the story over two years. The movie turned out to be a blockbuster and set the trend for multi-starrer movies.

After the success of ‘SVSC’, Venkatesh joined Pawan Kalyan in ‘Gopala Gopala’, a remake of Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG – Oh My God!’ Here again, Venki played the role of a common man, without worrying about his star image. The movie is doing very well in the theatres. Here’s news about his next multi-starrer:

The pairing with Ravi Teja will raise many expectations in terms of comedy, as both Venkatesh and Ravi Teja are praised for their comic timing. The director, Veeru Potla, who has  directed ‘Ragada’ and ‘Doosukeltha’, is also known for his witty dialogue.

As far as the film is concerned, it is a remake of the Tamil film ‘Jilla’ that starred Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay and Malayalam superstar Mohan Lal. You can watch the ‘Jilla’ trailer to imagine how the Venkatesh-Ravi Teja pair might work. Meanwhile, let’s hope that this movie prompts other stars to try this formula.
